	Aster 4023 Big Boy 4-8-8-4 Steam Loco. & Tender LN- This is an Aster #4023 Union Pacific Big Boy 4-8-8-4 Steam Locomotive and Tender. The "Big Boy" was the name given to the Union Pacific Railroad's twenty-five 4000 class 4-8-8-4 articulated steam locomotives built between 1941 and 1944 by Alco. A Big Boy could generate a maximum of 6,290 drawbar horsepower. The Big Boys were the only locomotives to have the 4-8-8-4 wheel arrangement in the Whyte notation, combining two sets of eight driving wheels with both a four-wheel leading truck for stability entering curves and a four-wheel trailing truck to support the large firebox. Big Boy #4023 is on permanent display in Omaha, Nebraska. 	Aster NYC Commodore Vanderbilt 4-6-4 Steam Loco/Tender LN- This is an Aster New York Central Commodore Vanderbilt 4-6-4 Steam Locomotive and Tender. This locomotive was manufactured in 1986 and there are only 120 in existance. The original Commodore Vanderbilt was first exhibited at Grand Central Terminal on December 27, 1934. This rare and impressive model is constructed at 1/34 scale (45mm gauge). It is 142mm high, 102mm wide, and 934mm long. The locomotive weighs 7.6 kg and the tender weighs 2.5 kg for a total of 10.1 kg. It features a toothed wheel box with spur gears at a gear ratio of 13.8:1 and has a 2 x Canon coreless motor of the Ferrite type. The motor has a rated voltage of 12V, a rated current of 430mA, a rated speed of 3,650 r.p.m., and a starting torque of 560 g/cm. It has a power switch, a lighting switch, and a puffer switch. The locomotive features operating headlights, taillights, and a cab light and the drawbar pull is a maximum of 1.4kg at the tender. 	MTH 70-3012-1 WP 4-8-4 GS-4 Steam Engine This is an MTH 70-3012-1 Western Pacific 4-8-4 Gs-2 Steam Engine with Proto-Sound 2.0, Cab No. 486. In the 1920s, Southern Pacific rethought the standard approach to motive power; rather than changing engines at division points, they wanted to develop an engine for use on extended runs. Their famous 4-8-4 GS-series of locomotives resulted. 4-8-4 Northerns originated with the Northern Pacific railroad in 1926 and quickly became popular on other roads. The eight drivers allowed the engines to generate more power than engines with fewer driving wheels, and the four trailing wheels supported a larger firebox, increasing boiler capacity. This combination allowed 4-8-4s to best even larger 2-10-2-types by sustaining higher speeds over longer distances. Southern Pacific's famous GS-4 was introduced in the 1930s specifically for the glamorous new "Daylight" passenger train that ran between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
